Frequently Asked Questions
What to expect at our initial meeting?
This meeting is a chance for us to see if we feel comfortable working together. It is a two way process and it is important we both feel it is right before we embark on this work.
We will talk a little bit about what has brought you to therapy and what is happening in you life currently and what changes you would like to get from your therapy.
I will explain a little bit about Core Process Psychotherapy, how I work and what to expect within the sessions.
I feel anxious about coming to therapy..
This is an understandable and a natural response to what might feel like a step into the unknown. This is part of the process and I will do my very best to help put you at ease when we meet. If you don’t wish to speak on the phone initially, you are welcome to text, email me or complete the contact me page as a first contact.
How often should I come to therapy and for how long?
Sessions happen weekly and at the same time each week. There is no set time frame to be in therapy. The work unfolds at its own pace, what is important is you are experiencing benefit and noticing a gradual change in yourself. It is normal to review how things are going after the first 6 sessions.
How long is a session?
Session are 1 hour and will start and end at our agreed meeting time. If you are late we will still need to end the session at the agreed time.
What if I need to cancel my session?
Please give a minimum of 48 hours notice if you need to cancel a session otherwise you will be charged in full. If you can give advance warning that you cannot make a session, I will endeavour to find another time we can both do that week.
How much is a session?
As a senior student, I currently offer sessions at a reduced rate of £45.
Can we do sessions online on zoom instead?
I offer session both online and in person or a mixture. It is good to meet in person as much as possible.
We can discuss this at our initial meeting.
Are you part of a regulatory body?
I am a trainee member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and adhere to their code of ethics. I am also fully insured.
